Intended Parents Timeline
Gestational Surrogacy
Each journey is unique. A typical timeline is between 16-24 months.
Agency Selection &
Initial Consultation
You have made the decision to grow your family through gestational surrogacy. You determine that you would like agency to assist you in finding a surrogate and assisting in the journey.
It is important to define your needs, ask prudent questions to all prospective agencies and feel comfortable with the agency's agreement, terms, and team.
2+ months
Matching with a Surrogate
You have selected an agency and are evaluating the surrogates presented by the agency.
The matching time depends on your individual requirements [location, twins, termination, etc.] and the pool of available surrogates.
Our comprehensive screening processes ensures that only the highest quality surrogates are presented to intended parents, are never shared, and are match based on mutual preferences.
Video Call - "Match Meeting"
Intended parents meet with the prospective surrogate and the agency on a video call. Both parties agree that their requirements are being met and that "everything feels right."
When both parties agree the fun begins!
1-2 months
Psychological & Medical Evaluation
The surrogate's medical history is evaluated by your IVF clinic. The surrogate and her partner are also tested for sexually transmitted diseases and a physiological evaluation is performed.
After passing the initial medical review at your IVF clinic the surrogate travels for an in-person screening by your doctor.
Legal
You work with your counsel to draft the surrogacy contract.
The surrogate works with her own independent counsel.
All parties work to create the Carrier Agreement contract.
1-2 months
Pre-Transfer
The surrogate will start the protocol prescribed by the IVF clinic to prepare her body for implementation.
Medication starts after the legal contracts have been signed.
Embryo Transfer & Pregnancy
The surrogate travels to your IVF clinic for the embryo transfer.
Around 10 weeks, the surrogate is transferred to the care of her own OBGYN and will continue ultrasound check-ins.
Around 20 weeks, the first major ultrasound is preformed, and the parents can learn the gender of the baby if they do not already know!
If intended parents can travel for the 20-week check-up it is the perfect time to tour the hospital where your baby will be born!
Pre-Birth Order
During the pregnancy you will work with your counsel and insurer to make sure that all the proper legal documents are filed with the state and the hospital. You can rest-assured that the delivery day is focused on the baby and surrogate and not on legal paperwork and insurance forms.
Celebrate!
Your surrogacy journey is mostly complete.
Enjoy the special day and reflect on the miracle of gestational surrogacy and the gift it provides.
